Cirrhosis diet plan: Foods to eat and avoid | Dr. Victor Marchione — 2 Comments

  1. This article is very misleading. It said don’t eat animal protein but in the diet recommendation it has chicken breast for lunch.
It also points out not to drink caffeinated, but coffee is recommended to reduce chances of liver cancer.

    • Yes, it is confusing! When he refers to meat, I assume he means red meat–red meat can increase ammonia levels in the brain. Eating poultry is recommended for people with cirrhosis along with plant based protein. I’m not sure why he restricts caffeinated drinks unless he means in excess. Studies have found that caffeinated coffee and tea decreases the risk of cirrhosis and liver cancer. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Alan
